EMPTY SHELTERS
The series ‘Empty Shelters’ depicts everyday life in Seoul, a metropolis in which the permanent state of war has become normality and in which the proximity to the North Korean border seems buried. Original photographic material is enhanced by fictional elements that are added to the cityscape.
Since 2012, we have focussed on the connection between social movements and local structures within megacities (such as Tokyo, Shanghai, New York and Seoul) that are representative of our modern world. The works expose symptoms of a society and show the pace of our development-orientated technology that seems to have overwhelmed the human capacity for absorption.
