FOTO NR. 7A
Image 7A on the contact sheets by photographer Nick Uts is considered the trigger for the American peace movement, which led to the withdrawal of US troops from Vietnam in April 1975. The image, called ‘Terror of War’, is so powerful that almost all leading newspapers and magazines use it to report on the state of the Vietnam War.
The ultimate anti-war motif.
In fact, the Americans were already in retreat at the time and yet it became a symbol of how a single image can change the course of entire wars.
The two artists would like to believe that such images are powerful, that they bring people to their senses. They question whether symbols actually remain in our collective memory.

But icons don't last long in our world.
‘A picture is worth a thousand words’ - We keep forgetting that we, as viewers, choose the thousand words we want to hear.
Two generations later, we see almost identical images of a new war.
